Ian McCarthy
PRESIDENT & GENERAL MANAGER
 
Ian McCarthy has worked in professional basketball for nearly a decade. He founded several franchises; served as President, General Manager and Scout, as well as Head Associate Coach, Head Coach, and also Assistant Coach. He was named General Manager of the Year in the ABA (2008). Teams under his tutelage and direction have reached multiple final fours, won multiple tournament championships, and featured numerous award winning coaches and players. Off the court, Ian serves as an international ambassador of goodwill for the game of basketball, reaching out to and partnering with overseas champions such as the Santa Lucia Realtors (Philippines), the Capitanes de Arecibo (Puerto Rico), the Beijing Aoshen (China/Singapore), and the Sendai 89ers (Japan). Ian is one of the co-founders of the National Basketball League of Canada and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the league.
Apryll Stansfield
CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS
 
A graduate of Mount Allison University, Apryll first started her marketing & communications experience with direct marketing companies such as Mosaic & GMR Marketing. At Mount A, she often wrote game recaps and articles on the women's varsity volleyball team for the university newspaper, The Argosy. Prior to joining the Mill Rats, she worked with The Momentum Group as office manager at the Saint John office location. She was heavily involved with sponsorship & public relations, marketing, promoting, sales and event planning. A former Canada Games athlete, she has been highly involved with athletics all through life. Linda Steen
EVENT COORDINATOR
 
Linda began working with the Mill Rats in 2012. She has a diverse background in Marketing and Event Management. While she is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick in Business Certificate program, she also works as a volunteer and is an active community member. Linda's role with the Mill Rats is the planning, promoting, and coordinating of Camps/Clinics and Community appearances.

Julia Higgins
DIRECTOR OF GROUP SALES
 
Julia is the Director of Group Sales for the Mill Rats. She is responsible to plan and coordinate all group sales activities in conjunction with the marketing plan. This includes season ticket sales, group sales, and corporate sponsorships. Julia gained extensive experience in project management, media relations, and sponsorship development throughout her career. She has successfully developed marketing strategies, media campaigns, and partnerships for non-profits, the health sector, and three levels of government. Outside of work, Julia enjoys yoga, learning about nutrition, baking, oil paining, and traveling.
Jessica Royan
GAME DAY OPERATIONS MANAGER
 
Jessica has many years experience working in sales, customer service and sports. She also has experience as a retail manager and in customer service. Jessica enjoys coaching gymnastics, and has organized many gymnastic sporting events and camps. She previously worked with the Saint John Sea Dogs hockey team for one season as gameday operations assistant. She is entering her 4th season with the Saint John Mill Rats. This will be her first season as the Gameday Operations Manager.
Carl White

PUBLIC RELATIONS

This is Carl White's 4th season as Public Relations representative for the Mill Rats. Carl is a native of Saint John, who served on common council from 1998-2008, including one term as Deputy Mayor. His role is to act as a community liaison, working with business, corporate and non-profit partners. White, who is employed as human rights officer, served as President of Saint John Touch Football League for 20 years, and coached senior boys basketball at Harbourview High School for 2 years. He was a member of the committee that brought two Canadian Football League exhibition games, and one NBA exhibition contest, to Saint John. He was also assistant venue manager for track and field during the 1985 Canada Summer Games in Saint John, and more recently served as Chairman of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame Induction Event Committee for the 40th Annual Induction Banquet held in the Port City in 2009. He was appointed to the Board of Governors of the Hall of Fame also in 2009. White also currently serves on an advisory committee to the Commissioner of the RCMP, and is a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of Saint John.
Tiffany McCarthy

DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL MEDIA & WEBSITE

Tiffany McCarthy owned and operated her own business in Nantucket, Massachusetts, which she sold in 2003. Before moving to Canada, she was a licensed aesthetician, and also the manager of two retail stores in New Hampshire. Since moving to Saint John, she has taken on many different roles with the Saint John Mill Rats. Tiffany designed all the Mill Rats Dance Team uniforms, and last season introduced the Mini-Millies, with the help of S.I.T. Studio and Melanie Fowler. She also served as Dance Team and Entertainment Director for the past 3 years. This season she assumes the role of social media and website design. Tiffany and her husband, Ian McCarthy, have been married for 17 years and are the proud parents of two boys, Payton and Connor.
Anessa Loatman
DANCE TEAM CHOREOGRAPHER & COORDINATOR
 
Anessa was born in Saint John, New Brunswick and is a graduate of St. Malachy's High School. She later attended Majestiny Institute to become an aesthetician. She has an extensive background in fashion, theatre, and hair & make-up techniques. Anessa brings years of experience to the dance floor. She was a competitive dancer for more than twelve years. She has worked with some of the best choreographers throughout Canada and the USA. Anessa has received numerous awards, as a solo artist and as a member of competitive troupes, in the genres of tap, jazz, hip-hop and lyrical. She also really enjoys working with the very talented girls of the Mill Rats Dance Team, and also serves as team coordinator.
MILLIES DANCE TEAM CAPTAIN & ASSISTANT CHOREOGRAPHER
 
Vanessa began taking tap and jazz at the age of 4 in Saint John. As time went on, she began to explore other styles of dance, such as lyrical, hip hop, ballet and contemporary. After graduating from Simonds High School, she moved to Toronto. Vanessa graduated in 2007 from the Commercial Dance program at George Brown College. While in Toronto, she also performed with a professional hip hop company. Performing has always been her passion and became her career after graduating from the program in Toronto. Vanessa was a dancer on a Japanese cruise line, and later served as Dance Captain for Celebrity Cruise Line. Throughout the past few years, she has danced her way across the world and finds herself back in Saint John, and is thrilled to be performing in her hometown! This is Vanessa's 4th year as a 'Millie' and her 2nd as Team Captain and Co-Choreographer.
Abigail Corey


GAME DAY OPERATIONS ASSISTANT

 
Abigail is from Grand Manan and has been volunteering/working with the Mill Rats for 3 years.  Abigail graduated from St. Malachy's last June. She has signed up for an Event Management & Marketing course that she will be taking for the next two years. A highlight for Abigail was a mission's trip she made to Peru a couple years ago. She is responsible  for checking the game script, sponsor fulfillment and setting up contests during the games.

Melanie Fowler
MINI-MILLIES CHOREOGRAPHER
 
Melanie started dancing at the age of 4 and competitively since the age of 10. She studied dance at the Eileen McGrath School of Dance, and went on to join the competitive troupes of Danceability. Melanie has performed in various events throughout the years including: Festival By the Sea and many events and awards shows at the Imperial Theatre. She also performed in the ECMA's when they came to Saint John at Harbour Station for Jimmy Rankin's single "Followed Her Around". In May of 2003, Melanie won the prestigious Millennium Cup for her Acapella tap solo, "Rhythm", which was the highest mark of the entire competition. In September of 2005, Melanie took over ownership of 'Step In Time' Studio (Hampton location). Melanie enjoys teaching and is excited to share her love of dance with those who share her passion. Melanie begins her 2nd season as the Mini-Millies Choreographer and Coordinator. S.I.T. dance studio is also a sponsor of the Mini Millies for the 2nd straight year. Melanie is the proud mother of her daughter, Alivia, and her son Ethan!
